Bull Management

Bulls are fed a small amount of creep feed as calves and moved onto commercial bull beef ration at weaning stage plus big bale silage. Young bulls are reared in groups of 6-10 and run out at grass from May to November. The bulls are never ‘pushed’ and are left to grow at a steady pace. This results in bulls which are very fit, virile and good on their feet. Cattle by these bulls regularly top the Hereford sections in local calf, store and fat stock sales.

The herd has an exceptional demand for bulls to run with dairy heifers, which is helped by their good reputation for easy calving. Recently, there has been an increased demand from suckler herds for bulls as the benefits of using a Hereford are realised. Cattle by these bulls regularly top the Hereford sections in local calf, store and fat stock sales.
